Per diem dinner allowance for Orlando at KPMG seems low at $33. That city has become much more expensive especially since it’s essentially a resort town. What do other firms allow?

Do you think residents are spending $33 per dinner on an average week night? It’s sufficient.

like

Agreed. Sounds just spoiled to expect more than that. My goodness I normally do Subway most nights and that feeds me twice.

like

EY is $50!!!! We’re not bottom of the expense policy competition for once!!!!! 🎉🎊🎉🎊

like

Internationally, it’s $75 for dinner

KPMG per diem is always, in my experience, the maximum amount allowable for tax deduction set by GSA for a particular area. If you think it's too stingy take it up with the government.

like

Skip the steakhouse? There very often and Per Diem is fine unless you are hitting the tourist spots. Have you traveled many other locations?

like

There are plenty of places to eat in Orlando that will cost you less than $33 just avoid the universal / Disney world areas and you will be more than fine. But you can probably make those $33 work in certain restaurants in city walk if you have to stay in that area.

like

Or even various restaurants in Disney springs.

Accenture is generally between 36 and 48 I think. This would be the range for bottom to top tier cities

Def feels like ours takes the lowest for the day, removes lunch and breakfast (bc most have it free in the club and lunch can be subsidized), then divides be remaining across a base and 3 meals.

Can't decide if this thinking is crazy or smart: Staying in consulting for another 1-1.5 years for good maternity healthcare benefits and smoother pathway to ramp off and back on work, with opportunity to extend leave further with limited professional risk (e.g., in corporate a backfill might become your permanent fill). Worried that this A.) could result in staying much longer than planned B.) would still ultimately result in crazy consulting hours and C.) wouldn't go as smoothly as idealized

Data strategy question: My Fintech organization has 2 banking products, both of which have similar features, but one caters to smaller banks and credit unions while the other focuses on the top 100 banks in the US. The product and engineering teams for both these products operate independently and rarely use any common technology vendors (except AWS, our common infra partner). Does it make sense to have a common data strategy and a single data lake across this products? What are the benefits?

Having grown up in the lower middle class and not with much money family wise, I always thought one day when I made six figures I would have tons of money coming in, but lately I am discouraged with my “take home pay”. Combined my wife and I make about $275k, we max both our 401k accounts out and after all taxes, and other deductions we take home roughly $150k. Don’t get me wrong this is a great amount. I just always dreamed my take home would be more. Anyone else feel this way? We lose over 40%
