Truth be told.

If everything is “asap”, nothing is “asap”

Meh, it doesn’t bother me. It seems politer to treat your coworkers like human beings, not just task monkeys. When I ask how someone is doing, I typically mean it. And I generally enjoy the people I work with and like the opportunity to check in on them.
I don't care to respond because it's only to ask me a question. If they aren't sending it any other time than neither do they.
Show me on the text thread where they hurt you.
Another read, maybe they’re just trying to be nice and make a small connection in a largely and often impersonal world.
I support this x100! I’m so over this gen z let’s talk about feelings all the time. No, we’re here to work not to play friends. Take your to do list and get on with it.
Thank you for saying this. I often get right to it and worry people think I’m rude for skipping the little pleasantries
Don't get me wrong I say a mixture of hi, how are you good morning etc. But I also immediately follow up with the point of me contacting you.
Are you American? This seems like a super American way to approach asking someone for help/information etc. I’ve found in other countries people tend to treat their colleagues in a less transactional more human way and honestly I am far more inclined to help someone/give them info if they don’t just jump straight into what they want from me
How are you really?
Could be better. Looking for something new.
I completely feel you! Ugh I hate it so much. That’s the point of instant message- just get to the ask.

I do the same, OP. Know that they get the not-so-subtle hint eventually.
My pet peeve is using the word “ask” as a noun in lieu of the word “question” or “request.”
Ok how about when you slack them a question and they respond with “good morning!” or “hey what’s new” instead of the answer
Yep
