Depends on the state and physician specialty. In most states plaintiffs have to get expert testimony on causation or they lose. But an OB likely won’t be competent to testify about causation in a neurology case. Yes, there are exceptions. But as a plaintiff I wouldn’t count on them. On the defense side, if plaintiff has a causation expert, you should too if you’re contesting liability.
