Planning to do an MBA (at a T20 university) starting this Fall with a goal of working as a strategy consultant at MBB or T2 consulting firm (LEK, OW, etc.). Do you think it’s the right time to do an MBA? Also, do you think that the consulting market will bounce back in 6-8 months for internship opportunities next summer?

Are you aware of the CPA exam credit extension to 2021 for NY CPA candidates impacted by COVID19? It’s on a person-by-person basis and you need to request the extension. Has anyone tried doing this yet? Can anyone shine more light on this? The extension would really help me, but I’m not sure what more to tell them in my email than the fact that I couldn’t sit for the exams this Spring/Summer due to test centers closing in NYC.

Hey everyone. I found out we are expecting our first child and I’m really nervous. I got into consulting one year ago and I’m up for promotion this year. With timing of our performance conversations I would have to inform I’m pregnant before outcomes - then shortly after the promotion effective date I would go on a leave for due date. So I’m only contributing to 401k enough to get employer match, and I’m saving an additional ~20% and putting 90% of that into my vanguard mutual funds. Reasoning is that I don’t want to lock away all that money maxing out 401k. Have 3 months expenses liquid in a savings account. Is this really dumb? Essentially trading tax for the option of actually using my money.
