I work 100 hours/week by the end of August. My office gets slammed by the end of July but this year, we’re already being warned that post 4th of July will be rough. Nothing is quite as humbling as working till 1:30 AM on Sat/Sun night for several weekends.
Spring is “easier” at ~70 hour weeks.
That’s insane to me. Idk how you manage.

Just type AWM tax in your search bar. The overall consensus is that you should avoid this group at all costs and seek alternative groups. I don’t disagree.
That being said I can certainly understand brand name recognition as it will eventually open up other paths.
I think you should ask yourself what type of industry role do you want (PE/VC/Hedge/Regulated products)? Then do a search in your area to see how many of those industry roles exists, maybe even consult a recruiter to see how often they see those roles pop up. Most people I have seen in this group usually flip to another PA firm.
The high end industry roles (tax director/manager etc) usually become available to those individuals who have an existing relationship with the client and worked on their account for several years.
Also working tax compliance is a grind and it gets boring very quickly. I think you can still certainly learn things but it’s what you make out of it. The challenge in this group is more of a volume, lack of staff, tight deadlines. You will also be putting in a ton of hours but that’s expected at any B4 gig and especially in a tax compliance role.
It’s a pretty rough group in terms of the hours and understaffing right now. I’m trying to get out because there’s no semblance of WLB and it doesn’t suit my long term goals
Don’t do it, especially if it doesn’t meet your goals. There would be plenty of less painful groups at PwC you could go to
