PwC 🐟 - recruiter told me you all don’t do yearly reviews and instead can be up for promotion “when you’re ready” is this true? Also rough timeframe for SA3 > M?

All recruiters apparently go to the same finishing school to perfect their pitches :)

Did they also tell you you’ll get a 20% bonus 😁

like

We have a yearly review cycle which ends in April. Promotions happen at the end as well as mid-year, although mid-year is rare. If you entered as an SA3, would expect 1.5 to 2 years to M.

like

We have mid year reviews but only people who are “almost there” get promoted mid year. For the sake of negotiations I’d just consider it annual.

like

😅 An off cycle promo could happen if you walk on water, but unlikely to happen, esp to Manager or above until you are well known which takes time..

Could do it in a year if you check all the boxes, but 2 years is a more typical timeline

like

You’re going to spend atleast a year in whatever role you get hired at

like

They’re technically not lying

Are you all saying that you do in fact, have yearly reviews? I’m confused

Hi all - just joining and looking for some guidance! I am currently in an IT internship position (making pretty solid money considering) and following this summer I will stay on part time during my senior year (discussing a full-time job offer after already). I’m getting my computer science degree, so I would like to do something more technical in the workplace when I graduate. How do I advocate myself for that to my manager without sounding unappreciative of the position I’m in?

I’ve been working for a company for 25yrs, looking for advancement. I’m considered an SME, managing people, Vendors and working on large system conversions. Have provided long term goals. When requesting feedback I’m told I’m on the right path, no suggestions on what to improve. I asked about timelines for advancement and not being given anything concrete. Recently interviewed with another company as a Vendor Mgmt partner. Individual contributor, high visible position with potential. Thoughts?

Would anyone that has moved from Big 4 to MBB be willing to chat for 15-30 minutes? I’m hitting a point where I am enjoying consulting (advisory) but I’m not sure the idea of narrowing in on a specific industry and exact skillset appeals to me. Seems like MBB is broader and I’m curious (also not assuming I could even get in, but I want to explore the option).

Transitioning from com. lit into tax controversy?

I have a tax LLM and started my career out of law school doing M&A tax at a big4. After 9 months, I got out of big4 transactional hell and into whatever litigation I could find. I now practice commercial lit but would welcome the opportunity to eventually transition into tax controversy (which I wasn’t able to do before). After working 5+ years and letting life happen, I ended up back with a staff title (no career/group change). Everyone said I was doing well throughout my career. Has anyone else been in this situation? I feel partly ashamed because all of the work I put in didn’t get me very far in my career.
