“You’ve been at this company for X years. What makes you stay?”
Great question!!
I use to ask the interviewing managers "tell me a piece of advice that someone gave you and you were able to apply it to your work/personal life"
This would help me get an understanding of how open and receptive they are in life, do they derive value from other people's words and lastly, what was the advice and how did they apply it to their personal/work life.
Are you making an effort to diversify your team?
What actions are you taking to better the mental health of your employees? Webinars and check-ins aren’t enough.

Who had this role previously. Why did they leave.
If you do it in the Schwarzenegger voice you'll really catch them off guard 😂
I always ask what specific characteristics they look for - to the manager not HR. Every time they say “good question” and also shows how they work (independent, collaborative, etc). I also ask their favorite project they’ve worked on. And what the company has done since BLM for diversity and beyond. Another good question at the end - do you have any hesitations about me or my resume so you can sway them then!

What do YOU think mentorship means/looks like?
Oh, I like this!
These are all great suggestions. If not said already (I skimmed) I always ask about the career path for the role so you understand your trajectory for growth if you stay.
Thanks everyone, these are great!
Ask a question about a direct process every employee may need to know.
“There’s a conference that I want to attend that makes business sense. How do I go about getting it approved and how are expenses normally handled?”
This will give you an understanding of their internal processes, organization, and how they make decisions.
