One clever alternative is to ask your recommender to mention it in their letter. If they could share something like "John Doe has done such an excellent job this year that I've recommended he be promoted early this fall and all indications are that other leadership agree. While this won't be finalized until late October, his dedication and performance at the next level for the past few months would make him a strong candidate for promotion."
This way, in the off chance the promotion doesn't happen, you didn't lie or deceive. Also, you then don't have to mention anything yourself where it seems like you're fabricating or exaggerating a promotion. And the best part is, it makes your letter of recommendation even stronger since it's one more data point of why you're a strong candidate.
Now, granted, this all depends on how close to your recommender you are and how comfortable you are suggesting they include it. If they're the ones who put you up for promotion, shouldn't be too difficult to ask them to include a line like that.
Ooh good call. Yeah I have a meeting with the VP who will write the rec next week, he also went to HBS so hopefully his rec will hold extra weight

Yes in my opinion, round 2.

Are you notified of the promo in Oct or is that when it goes into effect?
No longer at ZS, Corp strategy now
Round 1! Because you get a chance to resubmit your resume before your interview (at least at Stanford. Was told by adcom yesterday!)
Wow
