Really rethinking this whole accounting gig. I used to be so passionate about it and wanted become CFO one day, but I’m slowly starting to dread the work and my life. Everything around me has taken a toll. I’ve tried both big 4 and industry and I really don’t like either side, but I don’t know where to pivot to. Part of me wants to drop everything, travel and start my own business but idk if that’s the best thing to do amid recession fears… could really use some advice :/

Where are you located? Earning? What do you like to do?

What was you passionate about that you missing in you daily work?

A friend of mine was in your shoes 20 years ago. He took an IT course and switched over and he's been in IT and very happy since then.

I am now pivoting from accounting to master data finance analyst. You can also aim for controlling, fp&a or finance operations analyst roles. I feel for you. Just got sick of it, I’ve only worked in the industry

Start with a sabbatical that will get you out of the environment so you won’t be so focused on the work and what you don’t like. Taking time away will give you space to focus on what you want and why you want it. You’ll need to get clear on those first before making further decisions.

I'm a coach that helps people through their career transition. happy to help, feel free to dm me if interested

(Not greedy just genuinely want to inquire) What are some skills that are really important to bring to the table for such a role? Cheers! Google

Hi all! I’ve been curious if any entry level data analyst roles or anything similar out there exist that train you for the position. A little about my background. I currently work in Finance. And my former experience involved data manipulation but I never worked with any languages myself. I also have a 4 year degree. I’m starting to feel I’m not where I want to be at my age and want to transition into something that will get me to 6 figures or as close as possible. Open up advice!

Recruiters: if a candidate said something along the lines of “I’m obsessed with this opportunity” (not verbatim but it was that energy) how would you interpret that?
I don’t feel it came off desperate like I need to get this job, but rather in a “I’m really excited about this company and role” kind of way.

Edit: they’re also aware I’m in final round interview for another position, and meets all job requirements if that adds to anything
