Hi All,
Looking to make the move from working in industry to big4 and was curious as to what level and pay I might be worth?
I have 10 years experience out of uni, as well as completed CPA and MBA. I have a experience in managing entire finance function of small/medium entities, but most notably solid corporate finance experience/strategy leading refinance exercises, debt raising, hedging/treasury strategy etc…Would be looking for something in deal advisory / M&A / CFO advisory etc….thanks Deloitte EY PwC @

What position?
My comment below was meant to be your reply
Applied for general consulting, I assume they’d feel me out for level, I’m a manager at Accenture
Keen to hear your process. But I’m assuming it’s going to be pretty structured — eg casing
At Consultant grade it’s very structured and standard. You’ll be treated like a post-MBA, which is structured casing
Manager at Acc will be SA here, not C
I had an initial call and they looked at my resume and said looks like Consultant level experience 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️ 8 years since undergrad but got a masters in there
Weird, I have just over 6y exp. and are at director lvl.
We never hire anyone from MBB at post mba level higher than our manager lvl.
You would need to have min. manager lvl at mbb (which I think is about 5-6y there?) to be considered for a director lvl position with us
So that math would never work out for me (then again I am also at one of the largest tech companies and had a very fast progression)
A major competitor hired a T2 principle at director level and last time I checked that person is still at the same lvl 4 years later … not sure why c. 10y at a T2 + elite education could not provide enough skill training / differentiation to stand out against her peer group and progress to VP.
I think years of experience are always a bit of a question mark - as to converting it to specific companies.
Well, we have SMs and Directors from Big 4 joining as Cs and PLs respectively so there are obviously people who see value in a lateral move to MBB, even if you personally don’t.
Your original argument was based on what you’ve observed at your workplace. If a company isn’t going to hire an ex-MBB candidate below EM level at Director level, they’re probably not going to hire a T2 and below equivalent at that level anyway.
