Wait a minute, wait a minute, are we seriously suggesting that we can’t do anything because the Chief Justice is well the Chief Justice? It took a while but we still tried to impeach Chump. Is this not 2020 with the BLM movement still present in hearts and minds. Doing and saying something is not easy but that doesn’t mean we shouldnt at least try. Please report it, even if just anonymously. In your report point out the discrepancies in the official report (ie thst an investigation was completed) and the fact you were never contacted. To be questioned, thought of course that may require your identity.
Thank you! I will report anonymously, but will name all of the parties involved of course, myself included
We have to continue to hold people accountable. Otherwise their excuse (and those protecting them) will continue to be you misunderstood or you misread what was happening. A racial event happened to me at work, not in court. I brought it up to a White colleague first to level set from her POV (I know, that was my problem) and she told me I misunderstood what the other person meant. I’m sure I didn’t. I didn’t say anything to the man because the other person was my boss but I wish I did. Still do. Sometimes they don’t realize what they’re doing. Other times they do. In either case, your feelings are always valid. In reporting, you do run the risk of being labeled “that person” but it’s 2020 and I’d hope your state has evolved from trying to silence attorneys of color but who knows. Hopefully you’re not in a conservative/good ole boy southern state. I doubt anything will happen though to the person in question.
Of course. G’luck!
Our jurisdiction has a process to report judicial misconduct. All of the justces and judges are within its jurisdiction. We also have a high level diversity/inclusion committee in the professional bar. If the CJ is lying they need to know.
Elevate it to where? Is the Chief Justice not the head of the judiciary in your jurisdiction?
I would report it.
And to add — I would have been okay if the racist in question apologized, that would have been it. But now that the judge has lied about an investigation - I wasn’t questioned neither was the racist - and said my camera was off. Essentially calling me a liar. The state judicial conduct states it’s her duty to respond to bias & investigate if alleged. I’d file an anonymous complaint.
I’d report it so a formal investigation can be done
Ah, yes.
