Maybe I'm annoying lol but I would show up a couple minutes early to start small talk and use that as an opportunity to introduce myself as the newest addition, "looking forward to learning how I can directly support" etc
No, you are not overthinking it. Whether it is intentional or not…it is inconsiderate. If you think about online meetings like a face to face meeting, would someone ask you to attend a meeting and fail to give you information or an introduction? No, not if they saw you as a valuable team member and a respected colleague. It happened to me too. Challenge yourself to build a stronger network. Ask supportive colleagues to share two people you should know and reach out. Also, get a mentor.

Thank you ladies! Foreal it’s been now 5 days and still no introduction in sight. I’ve never had this happen before and it’s already leaving a negative taste in my mouth.
S BI- Idk about joining meetings early to introduce myself especially now that it’s been 5 days.
A1- Noted! Luckily I have a stronger network in the firm outside of this new team. I just need to find someone within this team that seems to have the basic understanding of how to properly onboard someone.

Update: I just had my first client meeting with my PM on the call. Mind you again this is my first week so I’m hoping that my PM would provide support as needed. I couldn’t answer some questions from the client and PM didn’t say zip to help me. I really feel like I’m being set up to fail. 😔
So sorry! As a PM I always meet with new team members. Especially because I need to show them the workflow process & the review process etc. Did you try sending an email and bcc their boss? I would def have a email trail stating exactly what you stated here. End it with I look forward to our 1:1 process meeting.
Stop waiting for the PM to introduce you. Introduce yourself and show yourself for the boss you are by forcing the room to give context. Ask questions. Don't be shy about saying you've been listening for the last week and start setting up 1:1s to get more info. And start prompting the PM to recap/clarify what you need to walk through on each call. Force him to set next steps at the end of the call and ask if he's going to be sending out notes. Respond to email threads with your own summaries/callouts. Use your newness to your advantage and highlight what isn't being done. You'll look proactive and he will look unorganized. Some people need to be made visible with tou so that they have something to loose by not setting you up for success/understand you're a team. Play it innocent, factual and loud. Help him see by understanding you can see.
This is the way.
