Interviewed at Deloitte, PwC and EY for Advisory Senior Consultant role. Deloitte offered $105K (plus $5K bonus), PWC offered $127K (plus $15K bonus) and EY offered $155K (plus $10K bonus). Surprised with the difference in pay between Deloitte & EY for same role. Is Deloitte Advisory paying less compared to other firms? 4.5YOE in Consulting.

To all the people responding saying they feel stuck, traps, like they can’t get out - I felt that way too. I realized after that so many senior managers and partners had crushed my self-confidence on purpose as they made their careers off my work. They do that to make you feel like you aren’t worthy and you can never leave. You’re surrounded by really smart people and you may even have imposter syndrome. They do this on purpose and work you to death so you don’t have the will to apply elsewhere. After now being out, I’m realizing again how valuable I am and what I do bring to the table. Don’t buy into the myth that you have to be at a FANG company to be successful and happy like I did. Realize there are a lot of not as sexy jobs that are great and you would be an all-star in because most people out there are just average and you’ve forgotten how smart you are and what it took for you to get where you are.
@Op, where did you go? What industry role dud you take on? Looking to make the jump myself
What industry? And what service line at Accenture?
Ya. V curious about Accenture’s offer. Was that all-in or salary?
That was all-in
Would love to hear more on what you did and what you do now
Would echo the earlier comments about being interested to hear about the change in roles. Also curious to ask what exactly you mean by saying that you’re treated better at your new job as I’ve definitely wondered what the difference in employer-employee treatment looks like away from consulting
Appreciate the honest feedback on your experiences. It really sounds like you made this decision from a good place and followed your intuition - doesn't matter if EY is on your LinkedIn or another firm that may be less known, who cares. In the end its about how your treated by peers and your mental state. Happy for you op!
OP - Thank you for sharing. Even though I have some of th hottest skills in the market I am struggling with marketing them. Hopefully I'll be able to do something about it.
A very specific set of skills
As a new campus hire at EY, that's kind of the point, isn't it? Spend 2-5 years at EY, then move into industry for higher salary? Even PPMD's and my counselor echo that that's the way to go if you can
That’s what I thought too, but getting out can be harder than you think. You’ll watch the months then years tick by if you aren’t careful.
OP - are you a technologist? How difficult was the interview process?
Seems like several people find this post relatable. Thanks for the words of encouragement, OP. I’ve been feeling the same for several years at EY and wishing I took a more technical role out of college. It’s always felt too late to change, but there’s no time like the present!
