Recruiter reached out about a pretty insane job. I know I’d have a shot but I’m 19w and in a country where leave is 12 months. I feel like I would have to disclose this during the interview... thoughts?

1- congrats on the opportunity - that is exciting.
2- at the risk of offending anyone, the comments saying don’t take a year feel very American (yes I’m american). You should take every moment of the time you wish to take.
3- I would not raise it now. I would explore whether or not this is a real opportunity - many of these convos don’t go very far. If this one starts to feel real, then you should really think about if there is a way you could structure it to make it work and come up with a plan of how it could. Then have a heart to heart with the future manager. The thing is that once you disclose it, you put them in a tough spot legally and ethically as they likely are bound by anti discrimination laws that say they cannot weigh the pregnancy as a factor in your hiring. Because of that I would probably say “here’s the situation. Here’s how I think we could make it work but I recognize X Y and Z factors may not be ideal. I’d like to talk it through with you and if we collectively agree it’s not what is best for the company I’ll withdraw my application and hope that perhaps there will be another opportunity down the road where the timing is better.” I think they would have to respect that approach.
Either way you have an exciting year ahead - be well!

Just to add some context: it’s a leadership role at an agency with a big deal. I don’t feel like I could come in for 3 months and make enough of an impact to leave for 12 months and come back feeling good about my position. Also I don’t need a job, mine is fine, but it’s a bigger named agency and pays A LOT more.

Is it possible that if they really wanted you they would subsidize the nanny?

I would pursue it and wait til you get (close to) an offer and then have a discussion. If you really want the gig maybe there are ways to make it work. But feel out the opportunity first and then have an honest conversation with them if it starts looking like a reality. Maybe their response will pleasantly surprise you. Wouldn’t be so lovely to walk into an opportunity that welcomes and supports a working mother?

Hello anyone reading this! I wanted to ask for any realistic, recommended job positions from someone with more knowledge and experience. I am graduating this December with my BBA and am ready to leave the job I’m in now. I’ve been applying for a range of positions I qualify for and nothing so far, which I expected. I have 3 years of experience in management operations but also have 6 years of experience with child care, is that why I may be getting rejected? Maybe I’m overthinking my resume? 😅

I’m interviewing for a marketing manager role at a company based in SF. I’m genuinely excited about the role and the company but we’ve yet to discuss salary. I expect to be asked at some point, but my research has given me a VERY broad range. So I’m here to do a bit more research. I’ve got 5 very relevant years of experience and will have an associate manager directly reporting to me. Are there any marketers out there who can share their salaries in similar regions and experience levels?

Currently, nothing exciting about my job at Big 4 so, would like to give myself 4-6 months before I give a shot at FAANG+M, any suggestions on what key skills I should focus on and tips for interview prep? I like to apply for Product Manager roles at Amazon since I like the role. I have done front office CRM (SAP) implementations for Fortune50 clients through Accenture.
It is more of sitting with users to understand their process and map it to CRM suite and build additional features to map their specific processes.
I have also worked on sales, BD and functional spec creation for new features.
Can I count these as Product Management experience while applying for Amazon or other Faangmula?

Been in the strat game for over a decade; I’ve realized that a strong department with clear process that is built on end to end problem solving (with time to think) is when I’m happiest vs this award show / case study grind. What are some agencies you all work or have worked at, that value strategy as a department and not a creative case study farm? Looking to figure out what’s next.

Resigned from my job for blatant racism last week. Been a contingent worker for 6 months. The manager that recruited me unfortunately left after a couple weeks and went to another company. She however recommended me for the permanent opportunity to higher management. The acting manager came in, permanent role was posted, I applied, interviewed……manager told me they chose someone else external for the role. I could sense the manager had no intentions to hire me permanently

I have an interview with Korn Ferry for an associate principal role and am curious about others’ experiences have been with work-life balance here. Also, I have an idea of what I should be compensated in this type of role, but any insights on how they pay compared to others would be helpful. Are you traveling during the pandemic or have client interactions been virtual? Lastly, if you are a consultant here, are you on billable hours? My current consulting role is not - so this would be new.
