I think cognizant has the worst HRs, like i dropped an email a couple of weeks ago to re-negotiate my offer but they didn't care to respond. Yes, referrals help. When a resume is referred, I take more time to review it. I look for relevant work, clear experience, and why the referrer recommended them. It does not guarantee an interview, but it does get more attention.
What are some common reason why the referrer recommends someone? Is it more "I've worked with this guy" or is it "I know this guy has x and y skills that can help"?
They just take a look. If there’s no referral, there may not even be any consideration. That referral guarantees resume review
