I hear the Sheraton at SFO is okay
SFO like near the airport? Or SF office? lol. But east bay is nice in Berkeley and walnut creek. Marin is cool for the north bay. Or Daly City, redwood city, Menlo park, etc are fine on the peninsula
I lived in Walnut Creek when I first moved to the Bay Area. It was more affordable than Berkeley and I was able to have more room and my car for what I was paying. I quickly got sick of the commute though and bit the bullet and moved to the city. Best decision I ever made.
Alameda
Did OP say they want a 1b 1b in SF for 2k? What planet are they living on? Pick up a newspaper. SF is most expensive housing market in America. You're not finding anything in the 2k range for a 1br anywhere near that city, unless you're living in a ghetto with crack heads and syringes lining the street.
Specifically in the south Bay area along the Almeda County
What exactly are you looking for? Your own place? A room? What's your budget?
1 bed 1 bath, no sharing, max 2k
If you want South Bay and alemeda county you are probably looking at Pleasanton (more east bay though), militias or Fremont. Not sure you want the Fremont union city area though. I would just move to SJ and pick somewhere like Santa Clara. The question is what office are you joining? If you are going to be out of SF you don't want to live in the South Bay. That's at least 90 min to the office on a good day. If you are out of SJ the locations you have in mind are fine
Berkeley might work too but you'll need to ensure crowded Bart trains every day
*endure
@PwC 2 that sounds terrible. Why in the world would anyone choose to live in SF? Is there an upside? Is the quality of life just amazing?
Pwc 2, that's not correct. You can still find it if you look hard enough on the east bay.
I think PwC meant in SF city proper. It would be very very hard to find even a nice studio for that much. But in the east bay it's possible to find a one bedroom for 2k
Yeah but the op asked about suburbs.
^i assume OP doesn't want to live in a shitty suburb. What nice neighborhoods have 1br for 2k? I'd imagine anyplace going for 2k is in a downtrodden area or a newly gentrified area that's not completely there yet.
Lafayette-nice quiet area near hwy 24: https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/apa/5669131209.html
Yeah east bay, 2k rent that's what I was aiming for! Not sure if that's possible at all
Pwc 2, like I said above, you can still find it in places like Berkeley and alameda. Even Oakland if you try.
@AS1 Yes, it's that amazing. There's more to life than a big apartment you're hardly ever in. Definitely not for every one though.
