All agencies except R/GA SF might as well just say “We’ll bring you in for an interview but we’re really looking for a white man for our all white male team so you’re welcome to waste both our time with this entire process.”
FTFY
Agree with SS1 - you're being crazy defensive and keep changing your tune. You said yourself you have less than a year experience in the industry!! Also, enough with the "the recruiter told me and so it must be true".
is the poor little guy feeling discriminated against for the first time in his life?
wtf is happening in here
Come to Grey: we’ve got a male global CEO, a male global CCO, a male global CSO, a male US CFO, two male NY CCOs, a male NY COO, a male NY CSO...
Maybe, just maybe, they didn't like your huge ego and douchey attitude.
Damn OP. I don't blame rga for not wanting to hire yo crusty ass 😂😂😂
you're the one looking for a job.
Basically the OP should have thought more about what he was complaining about before he started complaining.
I'm a Muslim gay woman of color. try again.
@OP regardless of what the recruiter who you know (does that mean you're friendly with him/her and might be biased info?) told you, I wouldn't assume that you weren't hired because you aren't a woman. Also, that belief is insulting to the talent of women interviewing for the same position. That's the very real harm of your opening post - this assumption and resentment by men/white men that they're being pushed aside for "diversity's sake". Look, I don't think you're a horrible person for thinking this way but I would ask you think a little deeper about your complaint.
@OP, if you think R/GA SF is so bad that “drove after drove of people” are leaving and you allegedly know people who complain about it, why do you want to work there so desperately and so butt hurt about it? Very confused.
Honestly, sure, it’s possible that the team prefers to hire a woman for a number of reasons, it seems much more likely that they aren’t interested in you because you have less than a year of experience (why are you jumping agencies with under a year of experience?!) and a hugely inflated ego (with under a year of experience, there’s no way an ego is warranted, and even if it was, it’s unbecoming) and seem to be an immature dick. 🤷🏼♀️
OP - do you know how many times I've gone thru endless rounds of interviews only to not get the job? Guess I should have just assumed those companies were only looking to hire mediocre white men. 🙄 At least I would have had statistics on my side if I'd wanted to go that route. You say you're only complaining about the number of times they brought you in but 1) you're not, you're also making some big assumptions and 2) your follow up statements don't support that. Who knows, maybe workplaces are naturally resetting so that mediocre men are being replaced by talented women - hope so. If that's the case, you'll just need to work harder to stop being mediocre.
yeah so I'm still VERY stuck on how you have essentially no experience in the industry but you believe that you didn't get hired for a job because you're a man instead of because...idk a slew of other reasons why you might not have gotten hired. For example, maybe the discrepancy between your experience and what seems like the metric ton of confidence you have came off as arrogance.
I promise you no one wants to work with an arrogant person regardless of gender.
dude, stop getting so defensive. you made a blanket statement about an agency not hiring you bc you're a man and I was simply saying that women face this on a regular basis. you interviewed at a shop that you perceived to be all women, every agency I've ever interviewed/worked at has been predominately men.
try to listen and take into account what a group of disenfranchised people are saying instead of making yourself the victim.
it can't be considered a double standard when one group (men, particularly white men) is in an advantageous position in our industry.
@OP, saying you love working for women while in the same sentence generalizing them, means you probably shouldn't take that interview.
@OP SS1 is describing white men's position of power, which all white men to some extent have. You're describing traits and abilities that (as you've written it) applies to all women. The two are widely different, since women are all different kinds of people, and not necessarily "calmer, give clearer direction etc".
@SS Also, way to show your double standard. You’re literally championing discrimination to a junior in the industry. Glad you aren’t my boss or mentor
Also, I LOVE that if I were to EVER condescendingly call anyone “poor little gal/girl” that I would be berated as a sexist.
But please, continue to tell me how whiny I’m being. I’ll happily continue to watch drove after drove of people leave their office
