Leaving VC in SF after 4 years, spent 2 years in IBD. Got industry offer for Director level role in strategy / Corp dev M&A at a late stage pre-IPO unicorn (Series D+) at a MCOL city. 200 base, 20% bonus, additional 40k/yr options. So $280K range all in starting. I’m currently making $250K in VC here in Bay Area. Job is in a MCOL T2 city (Boston/Dallas/Austin/Chicago) so I won’t be living in expensive Bay Area. Evaluate my offer please!
Decided to take a leap and leave full time agency life to be a freelancer and/or part timer. I’ve never worked as a freelancer before so wondering how folks have negotiated their rate, hourly vs day rate? For reference, I’m in the Account Management space and have 8+ years of experience. Thanks!
Does anyone know work culture /career progression/ compensation at AT&T Internal audit department ?
For those who made the jump from large consulting firms to boutique outfits, did you enjoy the switch? I imagine at the top level, smaller firms provide greater responsibility, maybe even comp?
Anyone sign a prenup? Pros vs Cons experienced and was it worth it. Wife to be makes 1/2 salary as me but is 3 years younger and a hard worker.
Anyone on here complete grad school through GSAP and go back to Deloitte and have any pro tips for how to do it right? (Max reimbursement, things to do before you leave, benefits, etc.)
How much is per hour rate of big data architect in DC/ NJ area. Have 14 YOE and want to move from consulting into contracting. Other than employment taxes and health insurance what are other expense
Currently interviewing with Deloitte S&O, what are the salary bands like for a consultant? They are saying they can't bring me in as a senior consultant because I don't meet the 5 yr work experience
Also - got missed in the last post, but I just published changes to allow for inclusion of industry roles including a dropdown in the “stream” section and a place to include annual equity compensation
I have an opportunity to take over the 401k at my credit union and was thinking about getting this as it seems like it could be done pretty quickly and may pay dividends in the future.
Thoughts on options vs RSUs? I have the opportunity to choose one or the other (but not both) as part of my compensation package and I’m trying to decide which would be best to further accumulate wealth. For context, the vesting schedule (4 years 1 year cliff) is the same for both and the options would be offered at a 3:1 rate compared to RSUs. Additionally, the company is projected to IPO at the end of 2022. I’m 29 with a slight appetite for risk and plan to stay at this company for 2-3 years.
I've been putting my 401k into a target date fund, but the risk/upside just isn't high enough given I'm not retiring for another 30 years. Thoughts on putting it all in a large-cap growth fund (VIGIX)? Returns have been solid over last 10 years. Investing through work, so don't have all funds available to me.
Can someone explain how they prioritize IRA after hitting the income limit so it is no longer tax deductible? I believe it becomes lower priority than HSA and 401k. Thanks!
Folks..wanted to know your thoughts: - not promoted since last 3 years - no significant salary raise - given new reason everytime for no promotion despite great metrics Is it time to move on?
Any tech recruiters in here? My wife has just completed her MS in Cybersecurity and has been working in UHC for 10 years, currently a research analyst. She has been literally carrying every department she has been promoted to with the highest reviews. She’s yet to break the ceiling even with a BA in Healthcare Admin.. So, she is hoping to find an opportunity that merges Cybersecurity and healthcare. What opportunities do you guys have either remote or in middle Georgia?
What percentage of your salary do you/ should you invest in 401k? And how did that change with age and experience?
For people managers, will you choose to downgrade to individual contributors at FAANG or continue being a people manager in traditional industries (e.g., finance, healthcare)?
How hard is it to move to FAANG from a relatively unknown boutique consulting firm? Are there extra leaps compared to MBB or Big 4, or if you get a referral you have similar odds?
Anyone here work at Wayfair? What do you think of the child trafficking blow up happening right now? Search #wayfair hashtag on Twitter if you haven't heard. At this point, we only have Wayfair saying this is ridiculous, but obviously this can't be a coincidence...
Does anyone have a SO who doesn’t quite get the whole remote work thing? My SO sees nice weather outside and wants to leave in the middle of the day to grill or get outside, and gets frustrated when I say I need to stay on the computer. I don’t have crazy amounts of work, but I do have a manager who needs to know the hours I work every day. Does anyone else have a partner like this? If so, what do you tell them?
How do you all find time for interviews? Currently I’m in the office around 6am and leave around 9pm. Friday’s I start meetings in bed at 5am and finish around 5pm. Should I take them at the airport?
Does anyone know if EY is doing premium processing for h1-b visa transfers? Also what are the chances of an h1-b transfer being denied? Thanks!
Our firm is looking for hiring managers, Senior and directors in various fields of tax. If anyone is interested happy to introduce you to our recruiting team.
Do you also hate "sandwich feedback" (praise, criticism, praise)? I know it's part of western culture. But clear and direct feedback should be enough. Working 12 hours a day, no one should have to waste time on this.
I received an offer from one of the MBBs (Analyst position - banking benchmarks team). The offer briefly mentions that I'd receive performance bonus, but doesnt mention any range (% bracket). Nor does the compensation structure has any component of Performance Bonus (which is usually a part of TC) Should I ask the recruiter on this? What to do? Thanks in advance!
Hey Guys, what would be the salary of 11+ years experienced person, in Mainframe Technology in CSG International, Bangalore. Designation is SDE Senior or SDE Lead.
Hi everyone, I need your advice. I've been interviewing with MBB and Tier 2 firms over the past few years. However I was never well prepared for case studies. I now decided to take 6-8 months and seriously prepare for cases/mental math and try them again next year. I currently have Victor Chengs book and few others. What else would you recommend for me? How can i lay out a plan to study? Any source you can recommend free or paid?
Made plans for my close non-lawyer friend to visit. Found out she is unvaccinated (hasn’t gotten around to it - she says). The handful I hangout with are vaccinated. Majority of my office is vaccinated - or required to wear mask entire day. Struggling to find the words to cancel plans until she’s vaccinated. She is sensitive. Any advice?
What’s the best way to cold email an agency or production house to land an interview? Do things for the first time and wondering if there are tips or things to keep in mind
What do MBB partners make, new partner vs 5 year, 10 year? Does it vary widely based on the individual?

What is your opinion on a MS social studies teacher having a confederate flag hanging in their classroom?
“If you’re not sweating by first hour, you’re not teaching”, “Don’t let me walk in the room and see you a$$ sitting down”, “ You should leave everyday exhausted” just a few quotes from our new academic supervisor. I find these extremely offensive, but since this is a supervisor any advice on how to handle this situation?
