1500 alone sounds worth it to me!
That sounds decent to me. 1500 means you will have a life. That’s worth quite a lot of $$ IMO. And it sounds like you’ve vetted comparative comp in your location. Good for you - enjoy!
You’re doing well. Congrats.
200k 7th year for 1800 hours in HCOL area. I would trade you for the 1500 hours alone!
I wouldn't trade this.
Considering 1500 hours, sounds pretty sweet. Another consideration is that often that type of firm will let you move to partner more quickly so the pay may not be lucrative at the beginning but it might make up for it later.
I get paid less than you @ 1800 / MCOL / central Florida
For a small firm in a MCOL area that’s not bad, but not competitive or “good”. For reference, I’m a 2019 grad in house in NJ and my TC is $300k/yr with regulate corporate hours, no weekends or late nights.
That does sound great, but I still don’t see myself doing anything but practicing law right now. And for my location and similarly situated firms i think this is just the market and I’m fine with that. I’ll be lateraling to this firm and their bonuses are essentially merit based so I haven’t factored that into the comp - doubt it’s anything to brag home about tho.
I make significantly less than you for more hours. Same years of experience and also mcol
Solid. I’ve seen roughly the same for a HCOL, maybe the HCOL was paid a little more (but that makes sense).
Don't forget to factor in the monetary benefits such as 401k contributions and payment toward insurance premiums. You may not get that elsewhere. So a $20k salary bump with fewer benefits might be a net loss.
