When is it best to leave consulting? Here's how I think about it.
First, are you enjoying it? If so, why leave (it can be a great life long career)?
Second, are you still learning fast? If not, you're missing out.
Last, what skills do most employers value? In my experience, this dictates 2 optimal jumping off points:
(a) 2-3 years in. Consulting "tool kit" is solid
(b) ~1-2 year into Manager. Employers value experience managing people.

Anyone interested in career help? 🙂
Hi Everyone, I am trying to apply for a Technical Support role at Dropbox I’m entering all the required fields but there seems to be an issue, when I hit submit after filling the form, it doesn’t submit and throws error ‘Looks like you left this blank! Please fill out this required field’ when all the fields are entered already (I have checked so many times, and filled the form from scratch several times too). Anyone from Dropbox who can put me in touch with HR or suggest what I should do next?

Money by far number one. But I do like mentoring the next generation. I will miss that when I retire. No one has to listen to me anymore!
My kids are are past that age of having to listen to me
Mentoring younger professionals who are building their careers, the competition of winning against other firms, the gamification of the job (success is measured in dollars you deliver), serving clients that view us as extensions of their own business and treat us as such. Lastly, the flexibility that comes with being a partner (I control my calendar, and the firm doesn’t get in my way).
in consulting the money is fine but not close to the pay of c-suite roles at large companies - I have friends in these roles and their days are jam packed 8a-6p with everyone asking for their time. Many elite performers in consulting could have gone that route but what keeps folks in consulting is the above.
Thank you and good summary and reminder. Agree that upside is not as great as those in partner levels of law of ibanks and def c suite industry but prob to reaching partner much higher so we should be grateful for that

Roger that and good luck. What’s your target number
Money, I’d be gone in a heartbeat if I didn’t have a family to support. So many inauthentic people in this racket.
Inauthentic permeates for and non profit I’ve found. Any alternatives you’ve entertained?
More money - scarcity mindset

Money. I keep buying apartment buildings. Eventually I’ll stop.
Do you hire someone to manage and maintain or donyou do it yourself? How many hours do you find yourself putting toward this side hustle?
Love the work
At this point it’s about leaving a legacy of people that are better and smarter who can figure what’s next
