Hi there. Ex Deloitte Sr Mgr here, currently in tech pre sales (SaaS / MarTech). Recently spoke to both Salesforce and Adobe recruiters for roles that I thought were lateral moves (Sr SA / Sr SC), therefore I did not proceed with the selection process. The recruiters from both companies told me they typically hire at that level, and people are considered for promotion to Principal in 1 to 2 years. I found that odd. Is that right? What’s the typical TC for SAs and SCs there? (15+ yrs exp).
How much was your bonus this year?

You ALWAYS help people get staffed. This js not rocket science
The fact that the person is able to understand their level of performance and not overestimate themselves is good enough for me. Nothing wrong with being average imho.
So he’s average? Would you not help most of your organization get staffed because they’re average??
If I was staffing my own projects, and had options, i would pick the one which fits the role best. Suppose not all projects always need people above and beyond.
Yep. Always need a good analyst. I will also be very clear about any misalignment between the role expectations and my experience of the analyst's abilities tho with the next supervisor so that supervisor can appropriately mentor and support that analyst to be successful. Ideal outcome is that someone who was average on a role for me (and a role that may not have best matched that person's expectations/abilities) can grow into an 'above and beyond' performer in the next role!
Maybe. Why aren’t you above and beyond? If you’re not motivated/driven I might help someone else that is
When I get asked about how someone did when they worked for me, I give an honest answer. For an average person, that means both pros and cons. If the role is a good fit, someone that was an average performer for me could easily be a rockstar for someone else (or vice versa). I've only had a couple situations (2 that I can think of off the top of my head) where I was asked to provide feedback to a project looking to staff a past resource of mine where I needed to be candid enough to say, "they didn't good a good job at all. You REALLY need to strongly consider what role you're putting this person in".
