I had my first technical round of interview as Sr. Android developer with Tech Mahindra and It went well. How long does it take to know about the result. Also how many rounds are there? The interviewer refused to say his name nor he appeared on video in the interview. Is that the company policy? Tech Mahindra
Anyone with recent experience recruiting for Boston Consulting Group? Got in touch with a recruiter through referral, was directed to submit an application and already finished my pymetrics. Anyone know when I would be able to hear back and what the hiring timeline looks like? Recruiter suggested to get back in a few weeks but isn’t it too slow? McKinsey sent me an invite for 1st interview in a few days after they received my referral.

The most important thing is the book. Do you have a book that’s up to snuff with other new juniors? If you think some spec work is needed to have a quality book, an ad school is an option. So is doing it on your own or with a partner. For me, I benefited from the structure and guaranteed partnership ad school brought (can’t comp for shit).
I went to bookshop in LA btw. Loved it! Not for everyone, but it worked for me.
If your book is ready to go, you can totally start applying a month or two ahead! And use every avenue you have...recruiters, connections from your internships, etc.
Good luck! It’s a scary transition to your first ad gig but perseverance helps!
They should be applying to ad school.
You don’t need adschool. I would recommend an internship though. I went to a 4 year college and got my undergrad in biology and have had a fun career, worked with great people and have managed to win at ADC, One Show, Effies and Cannes. Ad school can be great for some but it’s not necessary. Happy to share some advice w you if you like.
Definitely express interest ahead of time. If you’re not already in a city like NYC, Chicago or SF, take one of your last breaks (in feb/March) to visit the city you want to work in and set up coffee dates with creatives you’d want to work with. A good place to start is with people who went to your school. Give them at least 3 weeks notice. Check out their books ahead of time, talk about work you like, show them work you’re proud of and get a feel for what life at the agency is like. Find out what the hiring process is like. Come prepared with questions. If you show hunger to get a job, people will remember you
Do you already have some creative internships? I know your title is CW Intern, but maybe you chose that because student isn’t an option. I don’t know many agencies that hire juniors without internship experience, especially if you aren’t coming from a portfolio school. But to answer your question: don’t wait to look. Even if they don’t have anything available now, you can make relationships and get some intel.
