Recruiters will say almost anything to get you into a role. Once they determine competence / fit, their job is to sell you on the company. Just keep that in mind
Depends on how you define those two roles :) Assuming someone hired straight out of undergrad would reach the Senior Analyst postion in 1-2 years at the targeted company, I would 100% apply for the SA position (if you think you're ready for it and can perform at that level)
Gotcha, and agreed. However they only hire ex-consultants 1-3 years out of consulting so I think I’m right on the cusp- will see what I can negotiate. I wonder if there’s benefit to coming in as an analyst on a negotiated “fast track to SA promotion” and exceeding expectations at the analyst level first?
I would say that any promises that recruiters make about getting a quick promotion to the next level should be viewed with some serious skepticism - heard too many stories of these promises not panning out.
That being said, the benefit I would see from starting at the analyst level is that it'd make the transition to the new company easier - you'll have some time to get used to how things operate and start building up your network there before taking on a more challenging role.
Fair - this would be the company saying that, but still understand they are incentivized to get people in the door
Depends role and their org structure. What kind of role?
