Hi all, I just got a job offer at PwC for a senior consultant position. The salary is 30% above my total comp right now, but I’m just worried about the amount of work I will have to put in compared to my amazing work life balance now. Does anyone have any experience moving from industry to consulting? I need some advice on what to do. I’m still early in my career (1.4yoe) so I feel like I shouldn’t care too much about wlb, but at the same time, I don’t want my mental health to suffer either.
Anyone received salary in hcl?
I have an offer with Capita plc for 22 LPA for 5 yoe.
It's complete WFH.
Tech stack is spring boot and microservices.
Is it a product based company or a service based company?
How wlb will be in Capita plc?
I have been offered 6A band as senior software engineer, so is 22LPA fair compensation?
Thanks in advance.

Do you have a partner or kids or family/friend relationships that could suffer? I think that would play a big part in my decision.
If you’re largely unattached and could give up life outside of work for a while, maybe it would be a good experience and $.
If it would destroy a relationship or affect kids, maybe not.
Take the money if you need it, but if not, keep the work/life balance.

What's your life situation like right now?
If you're young, single, no kids, it might make sense to take the money. But be smart about it. Make it worth the time.and effort. Save. Invest. Travel.

How old are you?
I made a similar choice in my early twenties and saved an extra 250k vs my peers, which was life changing because of how it has compounded over time.
Literally I have none of the money worries they do. House, car, schools - all paid for by past me doing 2 years of work. I also got probably 6 years of work experience out of the 2, due to the intensity of it.
I wouldn’t go back now but I’m in my 30s and work life balance is more important (I still make lots of money but it’s not way more than my peers like it was before).
Don’t listen to people like Joanna.
Having lots of cash is amazing and liberating and takes so much real stress out of life and work. It is so wonderful to never worry about money.

So by the time you’re 30 you could be in a radically different place if you take this job.
I say do it. You’ll be 10x better and a lot richer by the time you get out, and the financial sector is a strong part of the economy and Blackstone is as strong of a brand as you can get on your resume.
No.
It’s all about your family goals. Are you looking to make more money because you know you will be able to save up all that extra money? What do you want to do with it? How long is it going to take you to achieve that goal? If you have a family, and you need that extra money to achieve a goal and the family is willing to make a sacrifice to accelerate that goal, maybe is worth it. If you are on your own, think about what do you want to achieve? Do you have a life outside work? Do you want to pursue a bit more of financial freedom? Life balance it’s probably the most important thing by far, but you can make calculated sacrifices towards a goal that makes a lot of sense to you
Thanks for this! I do want to save it so i can put towards early retirement since my husband is 15 years older than me. We have two dogs and don’t want kids, at least not anytime soon
Thanks everyone for your input! Figured it’d be easier to write another comment than replying to everyone. I’m 27 with a husband and two dogs. We’re living in NYC but trying to move somewhere with better cost of living. If I do accept and have to grind it out, what’s a typical timeframe of leaving after getting the experience? I figure at least one year but if I leave then, how does that look on a resume? Also, I’m currently not in finance and don’t want to stay in investment/ finance after this position. Would having experience like this hinder me if I want to come back to marketing?

It wouldn’t hinder you as a PM in marketing. If anything it would add some luster since you’ll be coming from a far more driven and demanding environment than any agency.
2-3 years would be fine. A year indicates you washed out and doesn’t look great, but you could probably play it off as “just wasn’t for me” and be okay.
People usually leave right after bonuses in Feb so there’s never any questions about it during that time.
Following. Very relatable situation.
I don’t know what you need in your life right now
