Eh...id advise against it. Use your sick days and PTO wisely.
I once had a boss I thought was a friend and I told her I was flying to another city for an interview. She called during the interview, left hysterical voicemails and then fired me when I got back. So yeah. Don't ever tell your boss.
Do not tell your boss. Do what you gotta do. Push for early or later meeting times to have the interviews.
Big no.
Ask for phone interviews and push for after hour calls/in-person meetings. Only take off time for serious interviews.
Seriously why would you do that? Let them think you're sick, or taking care of your annual check/ups (doctor, OB-GYN, dentist, optometrist). Even when I take regular appointments, I'm sure my boss thinks I'm interviewing. Doesn't matter. No good can come from telling him you're looking. None.
Fake a surgery, then all the follow up appointments are expected
They will probably find out through whoever you are interviewing with anyway. Our world is really small.
No. Lie until you have a new job
I insist on taking interviews either early, say 9am and head to work after, or around 12-1pm so it looks like a long lunch.
it's your time. use it wisely, use PTO. you don't have to offer any explanation. crazy to fake a surgery. I try not to lie. I just don't tell specifics from day one about why I'm out or what I'm doing. I know the time I have alloted to me and I just say I'm not coming in or need to leave early or whatever.
Don't forget vet appointments! Mr. Whiskers needs his annual shots! Then there's plumbing emergencies that require you to come in a little late, or appliance repairman. Car service appt. The list is endless.
Physical therapy is a good excuse. It's ongoing and appointments don't have to be at the same day and time
Absolutely not.
My manager and I have the kind of relationship where we can be open about the opportunities that come across our way. Also helps to light a fire when your review is coming up.
Dont tell. You never know whats going on in your current shop amd telling could put you on the chopping block
Should you shoot yourself in the foot? Because if that's what you're asking, sure.
