Should I try to juggle 2 intense full-time freelance gigs together?

If you have to ask you clearly aren’t skilled enough to pull them off.

don't pay attention to the salty haters. It will be stressful, block your calendar in both directions, have ideas for getting out of meetings when, WHEN you are double booked.

Not sure if this is a serious question or a humble brag.

If so, congrats! But it comes across as flaunting “I’ve got a year’s supply of toilet paper and bottled water” in the middle of a pandemic. Meanwhile, many of us are searching for a single square.

Yes! I’ve def handled two remote roles. One was shorter term like 3 months PST time zone, The second was EST for 6 months, I do know ppl who have two FTE & it always seems like one person is on a PIP. So, I recommend short term gigs. I’m EST by the way.

Definitely do it. No question. Just make sure you deliver solid work across the board.

I never turn down anything and this has sometimes led to three full-time freelance jobs being stacked at the same time. It's definitely stressful but it can also pay for your next vacation in Europe so go for it. The thing that helps me is to do as much pre-work as possible While you wait for feedback or whatever. In other words, get as much stuff out of the way as you can so that you're ready to go when something comes in. Also, Uber eats is your friend. Do whatever you need to do, spend whatever money you need to spend, to make room for you to be completely focused on work.

Did it once, the two gigs were in different time zones, it was a lot. The work itself, yeah, but also managing meetings and reviews on both sides can be tricky, and you simply can’t say “hey I can’t do this time cuz I got another call at my other gig” so…

likefunny

Do it. I did it for six weeks. Dump all the extra funds in an account you can forget about, if you can. Like someone else said, clients were happy, but I was an absolute stress ball.

likehelpful

Depends on the duration for me. A few months? Great. More than that, no. Life is short and money isn’t the only important thing.

likesmart

Yes, but it depends on the exact gigs. I try and double most of the time. Tripling gets gnarly though.

To the people here telling to go all out and double and triple book, how do really make sure you re not just mailing it in on of those gigs. People can tell, and if your output ends up suffering, getting called back is pretty slim to none.

like

I just work longer to make sure the quality is there on both.

like

Yes. Although 3 is the limit. I someone juggling 4 freelance gigs and he was like the walking dead. 😵

funny

Do it. The dips are the way.

uplifting

If you can...

Are they both big agencies? Or are they smaller/inhouse? That can sometimes dictate how manageable it is

Do it. I did for 6 months. No regrets.

It works best when you stagger them. I’ve done 3. It was difficult and felt like dying

Intense is subjective. A term like that applies differently to different people. I would say take a little time to think about it and be realistic with yourself before deciding.

There’s no reason you have to put up with a job you hate. I spent many years working in a toxic environment with a boss who gossiped and lead through fear. He wasn’t really much of a leader but basically a foreman. And he could make my existence miserable. I admit that it wasn’t easy to find another job but the bottom line is: trust your guts. If you feel something is wrong it’s because it probably is. Don’t second guess yourself. Look for options and and fight for your mental health.

I have six years military experience and he is still in the military. I don’t know weather we should charge on the higher spectrum because of our experience or lower because of our business infancy.

Does anyone else feel like people who are generally nice in person and on calls sound mean or stand-offish in emails and text/chat? I get that over-use of friendliness in text can come off as green/immature, but I tend to try and cushion my words with positivity or even exclamation marks/the occasional emoji to show that I don't sound completely unemotional.

Or maybe i'm just an overthinking copywriter who's reading into it too much.
