Okay - so then what are you doing to fix it instead of looking at other people and their success? I moved from entry to SM in 9 years at my firm because I was vocal about my goals, said yes to every opportunity that came my way until I could be choosy, worked closely with mentors and leads, and stuck hard to the laid out criteria for promotion at each level, always consistently delivering above that level. “Gatekept at the bottom” and “same type and quality of work” makes me think that you either aren’t producing the same type and quality of work, are doing it but delivering it in a untimely or unpolished fashion, or that you are not telling every one who needs to know the great work you are doing. My entry level philosophy was know better do better and make my leads lives easier - I wasn’t thinking about who I was running beside, I was thinking about the jobs I wanted to take.
And your empathy is nothing AC1. You seem to forget that people at the bottom struggle just as much, and downplaying me means you suck to work for. Based on your comments if I had to rate you, I wouldn’t want you on my team or anyone’s for that matter. You lack empathy, and are incredibly insensitive.
Those are challenges for sure, but they can be managed so you can live without feeling this way.
Building relationships is important to moving ahead at the firms, and it sounds like you might be able to invest more into that, and then balance that with your other strengths.
In your case, with 9 years and progression not matching your goals, you should look at external and internal options and see if you can find a setting when you can thrive.
Good luck and I wish you well.
You have other qualities OP. You need to realize what it is and shine in those. It’s a struggle for sure - social interaction and perception is definitely affected being ND, but that will never limit me for knowing my true strengths and trying to overachieve in those. More power to you- be your best advocate.
Yes. I believe I have to do much the same and hop over and around to move forward.
Hey there. I am very sorry to hear about what you are experiencing. There’s a great company, ThynkStack, that works with neurodivergent employees “on the job” to help elevate their professional success. This can be requested as a paid accommodation at your employer. I highly recommend you engage them as it sounds like they could be helpful!
