Yeah this sounds like a net win any way you look at it. They are giving you more new pto than they are forcing you take, so you come out of this with two weeks off plus two extra days of vacation you didn't have before.
Sure it's messier than just giving you the weeks as firm paid holidays but you're not actually losing any pto. What in the world is there to complain about here?
Feels like they are catching up to what deloitte and pwc offer
Accenture gave us Christmas week off too.
....but you have to blow PTO. It’s required. And entirely logical.
😐
I like the time off but I hate being forced to used my vacation time for a time that I don’t want to be on vacation lol
EY OP .. you have entire Christmas week off ? I am starting at EY next week .. curious ? That will be awesome !!
I think these types of policies are overall smart on the employers behalf. Most people take PTO then and those that don’t are usually screwing around instead of working
At least they gave us more vacation days total since they’re forcing us to take days off 🤷♀️
Most people I know leave some pto on the table every year so this is great in my opinion, plus the firm is shut down so you won’t get the bs request during the time, anyone complaining deserves a back hand across their grill
20 days mandatory for Christmas? K1 what are you talking about????
Unlimited PTO dance up in here
Isn't that then 1 additional PTO day that you're receiving now after the holiday usage that you didnt have before? Why do people complain about these things? This is dumb.
EY3 chill out! Tell your SM he/she can still take her month of vacation around 4th of July or Christmas time!
You're really trying to push this as horrible EY3 huh?
FYI, I don't celebrate Christmas nor any other holiday that falls around Christmas and I appreciate having mandatory time off, with 25 vacation days and anywhere between 2 to 4 of those depending on the year being set aside theres still plenty of time to take other vacations throughout the year. Yes, its probably different than you (and others) are used to and there's probably some that will be negatively effected but most probably won't. Life is about adjusting. So maybe you only get 3 weeks instead of 4 in your favorite vacation spot, but now you have two additional weeks somewhere else. Honestly, its likely a money move for your firm, I'm sure some thought went into this and not just to piss people off.
Not saying it’s horrible. I’m saying it reduces flexibility which is what the benefit is usually designed for. I love that now people can’t even voice differences of opinion without people screaming “you’re wrong! You’re entitled! You’re ungrateful” at the top of their voices. It’s kind of sad really
Interesting KPMG made 20 days mandatory vacation for Christmas 🤔 what are the odds of that and it makes you think they discuss with each other before rolling out to everyone..
I think it’s 11 days
Kind of. You get five PTO holidays between Dec 24th and Jan 1st but you have to burn 2 of your own vacation or personal days
Meanwhile at Accenture we’re focused to use our own PTO during Christmas week. And we barely get enough PTO in the first place. Absolutely disgusting, we work our ass off traveling and working crazy hours, the smallest bone they can throw us is a day off
E3 .. I don’t mind that ! July 10 .. there is big fam bday it works for me .. and who would not want to be with fam during the holidays n actually be off !!!
@ D2 .. I know about Xmas week .. D has it completely off no PTO .. but I did not know about July 4 th week .. !
I don’t celebrate Christmas. I usually work remotely so I’m pretty pissed
