So I’m part of the sales team and my VP is a micro-manager. I’m flying cross country for some client meetings next week and the flight I booked is with a name brand carrier but on the expensive side in coach. He wants me to fly a low cost carrier so I meet his definition of cost conscious. Personally he’s been very successful at sales and knows people at higher ranks within the company. I wasn’t sure how SalesForce doesn’t distinguish between those that are good ICs and mistakes that for good..

Regarding the specific issue with your flight, tie the carrier choice to something he cares about more than cost. For example he probably cares more about you getting to the first meeting on time than taking the lowest cost flight. Cite the stats on percentage of flights delayed to present the budget carrier as a risky option that could result in lost opportunities.

Mistakes good IC performance into a good manager performance. Anyone can be a task master and micromanage the shit out of their team. Very very disappointed.

I’m sorry to hear that. That is an incredibly antiquated, hardline, “numbers at all cost” mentality. It rarely works and it is NEVER sustainable.

That’s not what our customer want our salespeople to be. That’s not what any person wants to be doing (I would think unless that kind of power trip is what your manager is after).

And giving you grief over your flight (unless the cost was super egregious) is simply petty.

Man, micromanagement is hell. I have that happening in my workplace too but not from my direct superior. They have us emailing HOURLY activity reports. I'm 200% OVER quota every month and have influence over many teammates, a wide customer base, and a lot of general sales experience. To be fair, they've put the rules in across the division "to be fair to everyone" (which actually isn't fair). I feel you, but know you're definitely not alone.

My boss in my creative agency threatened to fire me because I, a male, came into work with my nails painted. HR is having a very complicated day today as I found out I could take legal action if he does fire me since we don't have an established dress code that has any guidelines against male nail polish wearing.

Hey Fishes,

Joined LTI recently in P3 band. However not allocated any project. Got a call from the resource management team to relocate, which I rejected upfront as I was promised a role in the location I am posted. It has been over 2 weeks since I am in bench. What shall be the next steps, shall I wait for some days or start looking for other jobs as getting a project looks difficult as there are minimalist responses.

Hi Fishes,

Most important question:

1. I was on bench in my company since April 2022, So since may I was started looking for the opportunities for better pay but didn't got any offer still attending interviews.
2. In June 2022 i got know that I will have to work on 2 client's project which will be 50% 50% allocation on both sides.
3. I will be getting offer soon from one of the MNC, In that case what should I do?? Should I resign or go ahead with 2 client's project in my organization??
