So like a lot of people I was laid off 2 months ago. Been doing the usual things, optimizing LinkedIn, portfolio, resumes, using AI to help streamline the application process, etc. I've at least been getting rejection activity, and 3 interviews (instead of no response at all) so at least I know my stuff is getting through, silver linings right? Was just wondering what other 3D artists are doing in the meantime between jobs, or other related fields to jump into. Happy to discuss art stuff too!

3 interviews in the current state of things is seriously impressive. Not a 3D artist, but I'm doing the same as most other creatives and surviving on gig work and savings while I keep job hunting. 3 months so far and not having much luck yet.

Oh it's exhausting and so stressful lol. Not my first choice for sure, but bills have to be paid.

From what I've been hearing, getting three interviews is not bad at all. That does indicate your resume and portfolio are working. It's a tough time to be looking for work, and I'm grateful to be hanging on to my job. I've been thinking of updating my LinkedIn just in case, you can't tell what could happen these days.

I'm happy you're hanging in there too! Yeah, I suppose it's never a bad idea every six months or so to keep your LinkedIn/job stuff updated. I learned that the hard way by not having my portfolio up to date in case of a layoff haha. I had to scramble to make some updated stuff, but it cuts into application time and such.

I would recommend you register on consultancy sites like GLG. Occasionally you’ll see opportunities on the subject of art pipelines. Not often, but it’s something to supplement your income, and oddly provides you with confidence in that it tests your knowledge in the way you answer client questions.

Decent rates offered for information you hold and seldom share.

Also look at Tegus and Guidepoint who are similar. Again - not something that will provide regular work, but does keep the information fresh in your mind. Set a good rate for yourself too, making it worth your while as most calls are 30mins to an hour, and the information and experience you've accumulated during your career, is gold to an investment group or even a company who desperately need the insight.

Outside of FAANG, what are good large CA-based tech companies that provide good pay, WLB, and culture? DD has great people and WLB, but pay is low and you’re not given the tools and resources to succeed + truly make an impact. Google and Apple are ideal but need backups. Like is Salesforce still good? A company along those lines.

Hello everyone, I am graduating this May as a double major in business management and operations and supply supply chain management. I interned at a large 3PL last summer and it led to a full time offer as a operations supervisor. I am supposed to start this June but for some reason I'm not sure if I am on the right track. I would love some insight on a good potential career path and if I should look for other opportunities or see how the one I have plays out. Thanks!

SIL and BIL told us excitedly last weekend that she was pregnant (had literally just found out, so barely four weeks). This week she tells us she’s not pregnant anymore :(. They did not seem super torn up about it and were very practical about it. We said how sorry we were, etc etc. should I do anything else? Should I not mention it again unless they do?

Recently accepted a temp role as an HR admin for a former employer. Previously interned there & left because my supervisor did not have any growth opportunities planned out for me; this was in spite of my stellar performance, as reflected in my 90 day review. She has since left the company, but there’s crazy turnover in the company & in the HR department in particular. Just that an HR coordinator resigned. Is it worth going back into a dumpster fire w/ no leadership to gain experience?

What types of work accommodations can help people with ADHD? I am starting to believe 35+ of having not managed my ADHD has really negatively impacted me in career growth etc. I'm realizing a lot of things about myself are because of the ADHD. I want better for myself and family but 1. I don't enjoy the same things forever 2. Imposter syndrome and RSD make me believe it's acceptable to start over in new places at low salaries. 3. Typical college won't work for me. 4. I also can't relocate.

It has it all. Any other series with these features?
