Six figures really ain’t that much nowadays…
I have a dilemma. I received two different job offers. One from a VERY good consulting firm, the other from a corporate company (pharmaceutical industry). Both in sustainability field, same salary. One 200km from home with possibility to work remotely most of the time (consulting), the other literally 850 meters from my house right now. The corporate company offers 6 months at first with the possibility to get a permanent contract afterwards. The consulting firm proposes a permanent contract. What should I do?

You guys must be new to the working world. Poor performers get the ax, new people are hired, repeat. All this talk that it wasn't low performers but across the board is just folks walking around with blinders on
@EY1 People let go in Boston were actually told that they were let go of because of low sales. Many were offered an opportunity to come back in future. I'd be careful about calling people low performers at a salty point in their lives ...
I'm annoyed that your greed D1 makes your think junior staff doesn't deserve an incentive. Especially given the layoffs.
I'm more annoyed that analysts are getting bonus' this year, thus depleting the pool for me
The bench isn't deep though...
When are we expecting the next wave of layoffs?
D5 those junior staff signed on knowing they are not offered incentive until SC level
Guys they hired all these people a full year ago (or even more). They can't not honor those offers, it would be mayhem on campus. Also, they have frozen direct hires...
I think they're waiting to see who leaves but we're still behind plan for this year again. Look at the Financial Snapshots.
There's a second wave of new hires on oct
If you don't get it, you are too naive.
I bet we see more layoffs in Oct/Nov.
Would say upgrading your workforce but your recruiters swear there was no layoffs, had to beat 2 off in the last 30 days (no dis my wife is a Deloitte alumni, I know where the warts are)
Ok, PwC1, take a chill pill. We're all potential victims of the machine.
It wasn't just low performers, some people that got laid off were just approved for GSAP/CCP right before they got laid off.
We jus cutting the fat
Simple as this: they need to maintain campus recruiting relationships
I say the reason why new hires are and will keep coming in is bcs big D wants to keep a strong relationship and presence on campus... A bit messed up but they're looking at long term branding and reputation
@D14 they do not in fact have to honor those offers. In 2009 there was absolute mayhem on campus when banks pulled offers. It's happened before, it can happen again. #atwillemployment
I'm not aware of anyone getting laid off in technology. Just bottom performers.
