yeah not everyone is going to like you, mostly for their own hangups. spilt milk. just be self aware, but never self concious.
Reply with words of affirmation and what you respect about the colleague over the past year whether it’d be small or largely impactful. Any assumptions is only a reflection of them and you can’t control that.
That would make me kind of uncomfortable too, like why are going out of their way a year later to say that. You can judge whether it was said lightly or...weirdly...but it sounds like it was weird.
Unless you were good friends now, as compared to then, it's strange to mention that. Idk genders here but if it was two opposite genders it's weird
I feel they should have followed up with a mention about how well you get along now or something that makes sense
Hmm, seems little lacking a self awareness. He may think a comment that says 'every personality is welcome' is fixes things, but is failing to notice his comments single you out and make you feel uncomfortable. He could've gone without singling you out to begin with just to be more tactful at the minimum
My husband and one colleague are the only ones honest enough to tell me if I’m making a stink face that is affecting them. I wasn’t aware and just try to be mindful. Don’t let it get to you. Try to right any unintended wrong with that person and like BBDO1 said perfectly be self aware but not self conscious. That’s so perfectly said
