So we have another one on the way. For our first, I attended most of the OB visits, but for the second do you think I need to do the same? It seems like it might be overdoing it just with the time I have to be off work, but happy to do what’s right. Thanks in advance for any thoughts

Yup.. You should go.. I have 5 kids.. never missed a single OB visit unless I was out of town travelling for work..Pregnancy is super hard for women.. Least we can do I show support and be empathetic.. Make the time and go. Your partner will appreciate you...

I went to every one I could (2nd was born back in the old days of biz travel, i.e. early 2020). I wanted to hear all the good and any potentially bad news coming out of the sessions and to be there for my wife in either case.

likehelpful

Wow! Well the tribe has spoken. I didn’t realize it was the norm to go to all the ob visits for subsequent kids

like

Yes should go. Show the same care and support to the mother if not more

No matter what it always helps to have a second set of eyes and ears at the appointments. Your wife could be overwhelmed with other things and forget to ask something or not see something.

Go to every one you can. She'll appreciate the support. My wife told me that me being there meant a lot so I have to imagine other women feel the same way.

We are two weeks away from having our second and I have never been to one, first time around was because Dr’ office wouldn’t let me due to Covid and this time around they’ve been during traveling. Based on the other responses I’m a horrible husband but she has never said anything about it and she usually says when she’s upset

funny

Haha well now I don’t feel so bad. But no, I think we just have a good bunch in this group. Something for me to strive towards

Or ask your wife, not us

Just the 20 week scan

What if she were to receive bad news at one? Would you want her to be alone for that?

There are billions of these types of what ifs... One can't be there for all of them.

Amazing how time can change your perspective, because 10 years ago I never thought I’d be here.
