You can ask but nothing comes out of asking. You need to have a project atleast in the other practice you want to be a part of and preferably partner level folks who would want you to join their practice
Not sure how it is at PWC but here at ACN Digital it depends on how big your practice is, pipeline, and need a good reason to switch
I asked and was told never to ask again. The partners own you and will never let you go. Only way to move into a different practice is to quit and get a job doing what you want to do somewhere else.

Ugh... So many times this has been asked.. Last time I'm saying it:
Express interest (send intro emails, request informational calls)
Invest your time (can I help you on XYZ proposal, I've learned more about your practice and am interested)
Talk to coach / RP (I've invested time and talked to the practice - do you think this is feasible?)
Get an advocate (PTR/PRN, MD/D who will say "this kid knows their shit, is hungry and we want them"

The other practice needs to ask for you, essentially.
trick is to get a partner to see your value in the practice area you're interested in transferring to, if you dont have partner support you're stuck even if you have relevant experience etc
