Lol can’t argue with that ;)
Ah the quintessential NYO BA
Focus on actually being a rockstar first bud
You’ll be surprised about how few mck people actually do this and actually want this. You’ll realise quite quickly that zooming up through the ranks isn’t necessarily the best route, probably when you’re 6 months in. It happens to all of us. We have an apprenticeship model for a reason and if you go too quick it will likely catch up to you at some point.
Also the first year will be a lot harder than you expect, probably more emotionally than anything. I’ve seen most of the BAs in my office cry at least once, myself included. It’s a rollercoaster. The more you prep yourself for that the better you’ll be. I’ve seen a few people come in with your attitude and crash and burn cause they think they can just work through it. It doesn’t work like that. Especially if you join the DD train as an early tenure BA. Good luck lol.
I say all this, which is very much true, but there’s also a lot of good and a lot of fun.
Also your DGL is rarely involved in staffing as a heads up. That’s your PD. DGLs usually take a super backseat role, don’t expect much from them outside reviews. DD experience will not fast track you in the way you expect/are explaining. Yes they are helpful, but I’ve not seen anyone progress quicker because of that. It’s only a part of your toolkit and you’re assessed across a lot of things. Just some food for thought
I say this will all the love in the world, but take a chill pill. This is how you burn out and end up crying under a desk at 2pm on a Wednesday.
Just focus on taking the job one day at a time. Also you haven't even started, but you need to ask why you want to get promoted so quickly...it's not all it is cracked up to be. Just enjoy the process.
The truth is in the details as they say...
They will purposely slow down your trajectory if you say this because it shows that you aren’t ready to be a leader.
you and 100% of your peers. Pump the brakes gunner and learn the toolkit and how to deliver first
Just focus on providing value day 1. I think this job is going to be harder than you think - McKinsey already promotes notoriously fast. You can make partner in 6 years which is ridiculous.

Thank you! I’ll be sure to remember to do that :)
I’d guess it will sound less naive & arrogant and have more impact if you wait until you can back it up with really strong performance on your first 1-2 cases
