Brace yourself as they will strip the benefits they will sweet talk to you.
It’s really your call but I would definitely choose the dental and eyewear. If you have perfect vision then skip the eyewear. I like to prepare for the worst to happen so I have never chosen the max deductible medical plan. We can choose between two other plans and between united and BCBS so I would pick from those options. If you know that you need to set up a will, pre-nup, or other legal document in the next year then I would consider choosing the group legal option. I’ve never used it but I’ve heard good things about it.
EY1 I had dental and Eyewear but never used them. Have you had a chance to use them? How big a hole in your pocket after copay?
Sign up for the kool aid drip. It's the best.
If you don’t have any pressing medical conditions then the HSA plan is the way to go. It’s actually a better investment tool than 401k (beyond the company match) because your contributions don’t take fica taxes out like 401k contributions do. You can invest the HSA in the same funds as your 401k and you never have to pay taxes on those earnings if you use the funds for medical expenses. And when you’re old and retired there will be a lot of medical expenses.
EY 3, the dental plan pays for most of the visit so I’ve only been out of pocket about $50 for normal visits, $25 each trip. I have good teeth so I don’t typically have very many issues. The eyewear plan pays for up to $150 on frames, lenses, or contacts but won’t cover all three. The actual eye doctor appointment is supposed to be covered by the medical insurance but they only cover one appointment every two years, which is appalling imo. This year is a non coverage year for me and it’s going to be over $200 between the appointment and the contact lens fitting. I’m not sure how much my contacts will be after the $150 insurance coverage but this is why I set up a HSA or whatever it’s called.
Once you’ve been at the firm a few years, the 401k matching increases. Also, you will be assigned a peer advisor who can help you navigate gt&e and other EY stuff. Usually your team will also jump in and show you the ropes. Good luck with the transition!
Does anybody know how to get the phone reimbursement?
OP you'll want to come back soon...
EY 6 - you submit it through GT&E...has no one gone through this with you?
