Stay at Deloitte as an M and try for SM promotion in 2023 or try to level up now at another firm? Current base is $185K with 12 YOE. M&A IT. I know M to SM moves across firms are tough. Assuming I can make the transition for argument’s sake, should I invest my free time in the holiday season into making the transition? Reasons for moving: Cut down M to SM timeline by a year or two, potentially increase my pay from $185K to the mid $200s.

Is it misleading to just look at Total Compensation from a $ dollar value/ Total Compensation seems to be much more subjective than base salary in terms of its value. Some factors might be:

RSUs granted on dollar value or by # of shares & stock price trends
Vesting schedule
strike price on ISOs & delta between strike price and real market value

For instance, most of value in Amazon's comp seems to be granted in years 3 & 4, but it's well known that most people last only 2 years max there.

MBB AP about to exit to non-FAANG tech. Would you expect a signing bonus and/or pre-determined severance pay if things don't work out with the new company? What do you guys think about this? I would be able to predict based on your firm(mbb, big4), your experience, which role you are likely to move (Faang pm, strategy manager, move to mbb).
