Rising Star
Follow the 💰. At least for now until the economy recovers and booms again.
Go! But you might get bored working on just one type of product/service.
And if times get tough financially, marketing is always the first to get cut. But since this role is brand new, you might have some time to be allowed to ramp up. And have leadership not expect immediate results.
At least on the agency side, if a client leaves but you are known to be a strong worker then the agency will try to find another account/role for you.
Also on the brand side marketing especially PPC which they will consider lower funnel, will be first to be blamed if sales are slow. Regardless of market factors out of your control.
But at this point in the industry, times are tough and PPC roles at large agencies are not as numerous as before. Because clients are spending more money on social media and retail media.
My suggestion is to expand your skills beyond Google paid search and YouTube. If you want to stay in pure PPC/paid search, then I suggest learning retail media and Amazon search.
And even think about paid social, you are are decoded, they have paid social clients.
Thank you so much! If I didn't leave I was going to learn those on the side for sure. But I completely agree with everything you’re saying tysm!
For additional context yes I do like my team and agency perks but not against getting $40K more a year
