Kind of how I see it. If they are going to ask me to leave the same day I tell them I am leaving, why bother put in 2 weeks
Agree
What about give two weeks your last day under the expectation that they’ll ask you to leave?
I was thinking that they might try to keep me. But yes I might bring that up to my cc to soften it
Well played OP
I believe if you give proper notice but are asked to leave early anyway you are legally entitled to the two week pay. Based on State.. is that the case?
I don't think I so in IL
Not sure why you would leave without notice. If you’ve been on the bench and they ask you to leave you’re eligible for a severance package depending on how many years you’ve been with the firm. Might as well get that since it’s better then nothing!
I heard they don't give you a severance from multiple alums
(continued) I am concerned they'll retract the referral bonus if I put notice in prior to it. I also know that while I am on the bench if I put in 2 weeks they will fire me on the spot since I am not chargeable.
Ballsy but yeah I’d probably do the same lol
Better to get let go because you’re going to a competitor, or leaving, then to just quit without notice. Your new employers will call to confirm your time there, as well as ask whether you’re eligible for rehire.
Isnt your PTO payout more than referral bonus?
I'll accrue PTO while I take it, and I definitely want time off between my current gig and my new gig. Referral is $10k.
Yeah you won’t be “rehire-able” but idk if you really care about that
Is that because I'm not giving them a chance to keep me, or because I'm not giving 2 weeks notice?
