Tax exit opportunities suck. Pretty much more tax when you get out lol. People only see you as the tax guy. Will love to do PF&A but it’s almost impossible with a tax background. I think it’s time to move to audit then.

I don't understand - did you think otherwise? of course tax experience is relevant for tax jobs?

like

Exactly lol. And tax is actually a super broadly applied career with so many options, industries, and directions you can take. Exit opportunities are near limitless if you stick with tax.

like

Tax is like glitter (or herpes). Once you get covered in it, it's hard to get rid of it.

funnylike

I’m already in International tax lol. It still sucks. Thank you for the referral but I will pass on BDO

like

With international tax background I think you might be able to go to m&a or some type of tax advisory role

At least at KPMG, you it’s easier to get an internal gig in an entirely different field than an external company. My best friend worked in partnership compliance and recently got an internal FP&A gig at KPMG. She’s going to use this as a spring board to other companies.

Also tax technology can be a way to get out as well. You could get a project management certification if you find that interesting too.

like

Is the PM certification only available in the Tax Tech group?

Just an idea…I recently saw a job for a Tax Analyst where you would test software and their handling of returns etc. I thought this would be interesting myself. Because you wouldn’t be under demanding deadlines etc.

like

(Remote) Tax QA Analyst- W2 Only (W-3665) https://www.indeed.com/viewjob?from=appshareios&jk=33e626dea91570fe

I agree with you but there are some great in house international and m&a tax roles that pay well

like

Is it possible to transfer from private service compliance to M&A?

True. But there are plenty of other tax speciality you can move onto. International tax, m&a, asc 740, salt, tax tech etc.

Dm me if you want referral to BDO audit or one of those tax roles.

If you’re still an associate I would def recommend switching to audit (advisory if you’re able to). I’m in tax, have a CPA, and got nowhere applying to non tax roles. Tax does get paid more than audit tho, at least at pwc

Hi guys I'm looking for a refferal for Societe Generale's Specialist Software Engineer-Python & Neo4j

Position

I was recently promoted to a new position at my company. I'm so excited to be taking on this new challenge, but it's not going as well as I had hoped.

I've been given a lot of responsibilities, which is great. But I don't feel like any of them are being prioritized or delegated appropriately. I'm getting a lot of pressure from my manager, who is quite demanding and doesn't seem to understand that I need time to get things done and learn new skills.

Please help. I’ve moved up the ranks pretty quickly at the company I work for to become a Principal SE. My manager thinks the best next step for me is to move into management and leadership and has started pushing me to apply for an engineering manager role. They say that I will be a good fit because of my strong technical background paired with the leadership and people skills I display currently.

I’m torn because I do love being an IC but I’m interested in leadership also. What do I do?

Hey everyone. I found out we are expecting our first child and I’m really nervous. I got into consulting one year ago and I’m up for promotion this year. With timing of our performance conversations I would have to inform I’m pregnant before outcomes - then shortly after the promotion effective date I would go on a leave for due date. I’ve worked really hard and I’m worried our wonderful news will throw chances with this :(- also if I don’t get promoted pretty sure it’s up or out. Any advice?
