Tax manager @ PE fund offered $150k base with target bonus (18%-30%). Does this sound too low? I thought the base would be at least $160…

Not sure but for 10k it's probably worth going back and asking for the 160, I doubt they'd just walk away or rescind the offer

Did they tell you that during interview process?

I have a similar offer at a hedge fund in CT. I was told 20% year 1 bonus and it would likely get up to 50% around year 3 or 4 — they are bonus heavy.

If it’s a HCOL city, then yes it’s a bit low, considering base in PA can be 150k as an M1 or M2.

How many years of experience do you have and what COL? No way anyone can accurately comment without more info.

I spent a year in tax investigations where I believe I was thriving ( I was going to be an assistant manager in July 2023), I had a lot of assistant manager jobs, I even drafted a Code 9 report to HMRC which my manager said was 80% of an actual report, he then added the 20% and submitted it.
After I realised I couldn't maintain all the unpaid overtime I was working I decided to take a turn and go to compliance, so now I work in CT compliance. I feel very surpressed.
