Also DP2 it's "their" not "there". FML.
No YOUR stupid.
I had a copywriter tell me once it's not there job to spell/grammar check their work. Sure, there's a proofreading department that we rely on heavily for larger outputs but this ask was for a single 300x250 banner that had two lines of copy in it.
Get it together DP2. It's basic English!
In my experience, Copywriters are responsible for having great ideas. Not spelling or grammar. That's the proofers job. That's the division of labor in the agencies I've worked at. NOT an "It's not my job excuse." And yes typos happen, even to people who know better depending on the time frame you have to turn the work around!Add to that, copy often violates grammar rules in order to sound conversational. So there's that. I'll take the idea person over the spelling and grammar nazi any day.
😑😑😑😑😑😑😑
Typos are one thing but willful ignorance is another. You're a grown ass adult. You should know the difference between your and you're and never mix them up. I would NEVER hire a copywriter who was that sloppy. And the comment about "it's not my job..." LOL. Damn right it's not your job. GTFO.
Well that explains why I'm a web producer/developer and not a CW.
Respect the damn English language if you call yourself any kind of writer
DP2 I was gonna give you a break 'cause we homies but communication is your job so no breaks for you. Straighten your life out!
Everybody makes mistakes on the job. You send the wrong email. You write the wrong number. When you're a writer your mistakes are constantly out in the world for all to see. Mistakes happen. Just suggest a fix and move on. Chill dude.
The number of typos throughout this thread is just... ironic at best. But I agree with the principle, OP. Stupid "Senior Copywriters." (Periods inside quotations if you're in America.)
This was really more of a joke post guys/gals, but ok...and yes typos absolutely happen to all of us and I can forgive those. But when you consistently use the wrong word and it's literally your job to use the right words to get the right idea across, I have to put my grammar nazi hat on. Sure there's proofreading to catch these things but you really should not be mixing up "your" and "you're". Ever. That's not a typo, that's ignorance/carelessness. And don't give me the "I was under a tight deadline" excuse. It takes less than a second to type two extra characters. If I see "your" when it clearly should have been "you're" it makes me question the overall quality of the work. What else are you taking shortcuts on because you think someone else will catch it? Details matter, especially in this business.
Digital Producer. What a title! 🙉
