Hi there, I have 3.5 YOE working for NHS Finance. I applied to Deloitte Risk Advisory, Public Sector (London, UK) and was successful. Waiting to hear back with package offer but it’s been over 2 weeks - was told they may offer M2 grade, any ideas what this is?
I’m also interviewing for Senior consultant role also at Deloitte. How much would this typically pay?
Torn whether to stay within NHS as I will be getting an internal promotion or move to Deloitte.

I totally hear you. But, here’s a counterpoint that might be helpful: I know a lot of folks who have “real” jobs and I don’t see them being any happier. Your job isn’t what gives you purpose - and I left a “real” field to go for this because a fun silly job leaves brain space for living and exploring in the real world.
Also, all fields age out. Doctors, teachers, it’s tough to find a new job in your 50s - not because your experience isn’t wanted but because your next boss is probably a cheap bastard who won’t pay what you deserve.
Right there with you. Totally regret it. And I’m at a point though where I don’t think I can get out

I’m 51. And don’t have any other skills.
Regardless of age I would venture out in saying that it’s not too late to change careers and do something else. Yet regardless of that your job doesn’t define who you are, just remember that, your purpose isn’t inside the 4 walls of your job or the 4 walls of your house, it’s within the boundaries of earth.
Ditto. But if it’s any consolation, I was encouraged many times to go for a more traditional and stable career, and had the opportunity to do so. But I ignored it each warning because I wanted something that I perceived as exciting.
I imagine you probably would have done the same if someone warned you. When we’re young, it’s difficult to imagine getting older and craving stability. We all live and learn.
OP you nailed it
I’ve been looking into interior design. Have been at that point too.

Just try to make sure is a career where you can grow and not be aged out. See if you can see yourself going in it for the long run.
I have had the opportunity to live and work across multiple countries, for that I’m grateful, and I don’t think law or medical school would have allow me to do that as easily. That said, I’m definitely looking to switch jobs. I do love art direction, and for me, it feels meaningful. Advertising just makes a mediocre version out of everything art related.
This is why I’m trying to move up as fast as possible. I’m pretty earlier in my career. I figure if I get higher up I’ll get paid more and it’ll hurt less later when they kick me to the curb
