There are very few good business books altogether. The entire genre is replete with crap. Even the few good books that exist (eg, Minto’s Pyramid Principle) need to be practiced rather than read. Or you can get the gist by reading a two-page summary of the book.
If you want to be a great consultant, read widely outside the garbage business genre. Be interesting. Develop the ability to think in different ways by getting exposed to different kinds of stuff.

Read whatever interests you. For me, it’s mainly hard science fiction; satire; philosophy, and the occasional classic lit. Sometimes some mathematically heavy things too. No right or wrong to the choices - just stuff I like and find thought-provoking.
I found Cal Newport’s “So Good They Can’t Ignore You” helpful and relevant to consultants, since it deals with ‘career capital’ which is what we peddle in.
