Those of you who work with their spouses, how is it going? My wife was offered a job at my company, and I'm not sure it will be good for our marriage if she takes it. We wouldn't be in the same department or anything, so maybe I am overreacting. It's difficult for me to tell

What makes you feel it wouldn’t be good for your marriage?

I worked with my spouse short term (about 4 months) and we enjoyed the commute and sneaky adult time.

I can understand wanting space and not wanting to work at the same company. Some couples do just fine with that much in common and others need more individual space and time. At the same time, the job market is awful right now adn I think you might face more problems in your marriage if you told her you wanted her to turn it down. Is it possible you might move on soon and this arrangement could be temporary? Or you could talk to her about your fears and see if you could agree on a trial period?

I own a business with my wife, and we agreed I would take the role of Director and she of first line manager thus making me her boss.

Its hilariously hard, but we make it work.

Since my husband and I work in completely different orgs, it doesn’t bother us at all. Also I work from home, he works from the office. However, whenever I go to the office my husband can’t stop calling me baby in front of others! lol and doing the extra mile to open the door for me and check on me.. very cute and all but I prefer and feel more comfortable working from home

Well, if you are not going to be in the same department. It does not sound like you will have a lot of overlap. You could suggest that if you two discover that you need some space from each you could recommend commuting to work separately or taking different lunches from time to time but hopefully you won’t even need to take these steps.

Married fish, when did you meet your spouse? Pre-career, when you were first starting out or when you were a bit more establish (at least a few years in)?

At my uncles wedding in Madrid I remember lying down on the grass in the courtyard after their first dance and crying, my Dad came and saw me, laid down in his suit beside me and asked what was wrong.

“I know my boyfriend wouldn’t dance with me like that at our wedding”

And we just lay there as I cried, and then got up. Had a drink.

Said boyfriend left years ago, and now I have a wonderful man who just asked me what type of dance lessons I want for our wedding next year.

Don’t give up.

Have you ever taken a job you know you will hate because you needed the money right away? I have a family to take care of. I don't want to be plowing through our savings for selfish reasons like my mindframe at work, but I don't want to make our lives worse by being miserable. It's a matter of really ruining some of our financial future if we don't get money soon.

Are there any well-off suburbs around Chicago where there's a significant amount of black or mixed race people? Significant meaning 40-50%+. My last therapist keeps coming up in my mind. I left her when I moved to a new area before COVID dug in and frankly it felt like leaving a girlfriend. She also disclosed in the final session that she was a member of AA and knew several of the people I occasionally discussed from the rooms. Her knowledge of the program certainly built trust with me early on, but it has been two years. I discussed it with my current therapist but she’s still in there. Any advice?

Everyone who I want to like me or to hangout with doesn’t respond to my texts or tells me they are too busy. This weekend I reached out to 12 people to see if they wanted to grab coffee or a drink or go for a walk. The number of people who just didn’t respond astounded me. I ended up eating dinner in bed by myself and getting brunch on my own.

The only people who reach out to me, I don’t want to hangout with. I don’t have the same interests as them and have to try really hard… cont below

I’m mid 30s F. Recently started seeing this guy, where he is “good enough”. Good conversations, decent time together, he has a good heart, but nothing about him shines. - not fit (I work out everyday and play sports), meh social skills (he doesn’t have best friends, just few he hangs out with), bit less energy than me.
There is a feeling in me that says “he’s going to be a comfortable life partner” and “he is just good enough, but if I break up I won’t find someone for a long time”
Do I stay?
