Credentials prove nothing more than your ability to sit for an examination and pass. This is why credentialism is so terrible.
Some that require hands-on knowledge to pass credentializes the individual in that space.
I think it contributed to my promotion to SA. I got the cred because I was insecure about my cyber knowledge, and used the bonus as an added carrot.
I generally agree with K1, but most people do care about credentials, and so they do matter... like all creds it gives you credibility because it's not you saying you're an expert, it's a third party. This inherent feature is useful in many career and client interaction situations.
If you are diligent you can learn the material in 2 months and pass. Those two months will go by regardless, unless you have a better alternative you might as well do it.
It's a third party saying that you gave them money.
Hasn’t impacted my career at all. I got it to prove to myself I could do it and to balance out assumptions clients sometimes make about me since my undergrad degree is in English.
Not at all
CISSP or any other certification didn’t get me promoted faster throughout my career. However learning the actual content, instead of just certifying, helped me to become a better security professional and therefore grow faster by doing actual assignments

I think it depends; reason why is that because it does show that you passed a challenging exam (and hopefully know) some security topics.
I think impacted on credibility to manage certain kind of projects more in the technical side. This could be very important, specially if you come (like me) from a non technical background
I don’t have a “security” title so it helped me establish credibility in that domain. Was able to jump to an exec. role at a different company post certification. It was even brought up as a deciding factor in the interview process. I think most employers don’t notice but you’re only looking for one that does :)
