Thoughts on accepting a job that is currently a step down from a staff 2 but is better work life balance and higher pay? Really struggling on whether or not to leave EY. I’ve realized I’m very unhappy here but I don’t want to undervalue myself at another position given the experience as well as CPA.

honestly you can’t go a step down from staff 2, you are barely starting out. not yet a senior. i would do what gives you better balance and quickly work your way up to a senior. i wouldn’t worry about a step down from staff 2.

Step down from staff 2? I’m a staff 2 currently feeling pretty bottom of the barrel lol

like

Better pay is better pay. Better pay for fewer hours is much better pay.

Job titles are made up, cash, free time, and not hating the company you work for are not.

It seems like an easy one to me.

like

Better pay and will make you happier...why wouldn’t you take it? Are you just hung up on the title you would have?

like

The pay increase isn’t that much, lower title but opportunities for promotion within 6months- 1 year. I feel like I should take it but am conflicted leaving 6 months from a title change to senior and large pay increase

I’ll trade spots with you. I want to work at Ey

As michael jordan says, if you cant handle the heat of the practice and dont want to play, dont play and get out...if you think like this at staff 2, look at the mirror

I have a business idea in the VR/AR space utilizing AI. However, I lack skill sets to evaluate viability or to create an MVP. Neither do I have a network to tap into.

My plan is taking classes to deepen my knowledge while joining and actively participating in communities to find collaborators.

Does this approach make sense or do you recommend other approaches? If it makes sense, do you have any recommendations for classes or communities?

Look forward to hearing your experiences and wisdom!

Anyone from A&M willing to refer me. Will be great to have a conversation. They are hiring for the role I am interested in. TIA

I interviewed for an employed role and knocked my business plan pitch out the park, but could tell I disappointed them with my technical. By my own admission I’m lacking in this area as only have 1.5 years experience with a poor manager who only had me focus on biz dev.

They asked me what my salary expectations are but had already hinted my experience would knock me down a pay grade.

As it was 4 of them and 1 of me I said I would email them. How do I play this without lowballing myself?

Can anyone explain the difference between PWC SDC, PWC AC and PWC India?

I am trying to get into PWC. here are a few things I have heard so far. Is this fairly accurate?

1. PwC AC is offshore counterpart of PwC US. Good salary. No travel opportunities. Average yearly hike ~10% Mostly technical work.
2 PwC India is a pure consulting firm. Salary better than PwC AC. client facing work. Can grow as a management consultant. Great Travel opportunities.

Need advice and help.

I have realized I grew up in a household where my dad did not treat my mom as an equal. He belittles her, is rude and convinced his way is the only way.

It is painful to say, but some of this shows up in me and in my relationship. I am starting to catch myself, and it to me seems to be more of a reaction than anythjng that is ever intentional.

Wondering if anyone has dealt with something similar, and any success in making changes besides therapy. Cont. in comments
