Isn’t Watson just smoke and mirrors? As in, mostly marketing with real AI capabilities years away from what marketed?
Well if you sell it as something it isn't.... What word is better than fraud?
They’re all **sholes.
I feel like Watson is a fraud. It is just a collection of APIs and they aren't that spectacular.
The technology is actually very good.
The consultants and people chosen for it aren’t, and I agree with IBM1 in his feedback. The typical profile is execs/ cronies/ kids who flit/ promote from group to group and have finally ended up here. Career paths would be SAP to Apple to block chain/ Watson.
Really..why is that IBM1? ...they have me a good offer and this not part of GBS
Run as fast as you can when you see IBM attached to anything
They’re out of my office in NYC - and they’re ruder / feel more entitled than others. Unsure why, because everyone works at the same company, but they have a very uncanny ego-trip mindset.
Similar to those in the block chain practice.
I think one of the issues with IBM as a company is that people think their shit doesn’t stink, and their personalities reflect that.
I’m sure the work that they do is interesting, but culturally from the people I’ve met in that group, and friends who have worked on their projects, the culture is meh.
I wouldn’t say it’s a “fraud” per se, as there’s a lot of strong technological capabilities behind it, but our sales people suck and sell things that are not ... true.
Watson has a bad rap for that which is why IBM is starting to lose a lot of trust in the marketplace.
Lol D2 - very funny.
Is it Watson the future of AI?
@D2, please come back to comment on this thread when your firm graduates beyond pretty PowerPoint status reports. You might then have some street cred. Thank you kindly.
@OP - curious to see how they pitched Watson / Watson FSS to you. Any input? Based on that, we can probably provide more honest / realistic info
IBM 2 - but I like my pretty slides though
