Very much agree here. No matter how stressed I am, I always remember how I felt interviewing. Show up on time, be personable, and allow for human moments.
How unfortunate and disappointing. You have such a great perspective of the person behind the camera too that you would make an excellent team member and advocate.
There is no excuse for that type of behavior. Clearly, this individual should be mowing the lawn. But it speaks to the larger issue: where is this hiring managers supervision? The sad problem is we bring our own crap to interview. Besides a lock of intelligence, an interviewer may be insecure in their position and their insecurity causes them to say no to your hire. I would never let a personnel person be the sole word on a hire.
Context for this post: I sacrificed my grades and precious time with family and friends before graduation to prepare for a final round interview with a consulting firm, and I know many of my classmates have too.
I was incredibly excited to meet a company representative and talk to them about their work, only for the interviewer to be obviously distracted, repeatedly turn their camera on and off, leave their desk while I was answering their questions throughout the entire interview, and even more.
My classmates and I are understanding if we were rejected for our performance after a fair shot, but things like this aren't respectful or fair, especially if we only have one shot to impress you. The worst part is, we can't even advocate for ourselves and share this feedback with the company directly. There's no accountability.

Agreed, I’ve always ensured to treat people as I would like to be treated.
Unfortunately what tends to happen is that a team looks to hire senior grades (senior - managing consultants) that can only be interviewed by a small pool of people. They are also tend to be the busiest and unfortunately the stress does rub off on the interview/interviewee. Not excusing behaviour but just another perspective
That is trump!! Not America!!
Donald Trump is the epitome of unprofessional besides that he is a malignant narcissistic, sociopathic, psychopath, as well as a con man, grifter, retaliatory bully, divisive, childish, evil, sadistic, demonic, pathological liar, and corrupt AF!! We should all strive to be the opposite of Donald J Trump especially since most of us work for corporations and we need to have the utmost professionalism while the President of the United States is anything but….
