Yea just say you’re willing to be hired as a consultant for one week 😂

Hard pass

Say no. That’s on the EM to be able to pivot. And the manager going on parental leave should say no too. Just IMO.

no its not your problem! Leave when you need to, but if you are available offer to stay on as a contract consultant to just spend 10-15 hours on your project

How does this thing work? So instead of extending my last day to be a week later, do a separate employee contract with them?

I work with several people with kids and I have noticed quite often that they completely disregard any issues of people with no kids and try to one up work life imbalance conversations with stories of them being parents. It must be hard being a parent but I don’t think people at work should be treated differently or given any additional consideration just because they have a kid. You already get parental leave so If I’m expected to work 12hr I ask the same to be expected from my peers with kids.

I’m curious to hear from people at other firms what is offered in terms of part time work or alternative work options for people that don’t really care about making partner and might want to work part time. I just had my second child and want to ask to come back from maternity leave on a part time basis but our firm doesn’t seem to have anything in place right now. If your firm offers this, what’s the billable requirement, how much of a pay cut is it, and do you still get benefits? Thanks!

Hey Fam. Spouse & I have been planning to start trying to conceive this year & specifically this month (27 and 28). Has anyone else felt very ready to start a family but when it’s time to start trying, start second guessing if you’re ready and thinking about all of the pros and cons. Should we wait another year? What if we have trouble getting pregnant and kick ourselves for waiting? Will people see us more as just parents and not as much for our successful careers we work so hard for?

I'm 22 and just starting out my career, I've done good at saving my money and I have investments, but my emergency fund (3 mo living expenses) in just in my savings account from when I was a child. I am wanting to move my emergency fund into a high yield savings account. What are the ones that people recommend? Aspiration is really the only one that I have heard real feedback on.

I’ve really been having the urge to get out of consulting lately. I’m hesitant to leave Deloitte however Bc my husband and I plan to start a family in about 2 years and I know deloitte’s 16 week parental leave policy is rare in the marketplace. Mom’s - do you feel like it’s worth sticking around another 2ish years for the parental leave benefit? (FYI i am newly promoted to SC)

Any fish here dealt with a lonely/toxic parent? I recently came to the realization that my mom is toxic (think guilt-tripping, saying mother-child bond is sacred, making comparisons, etc.) and has become very dependent of me, and as much as I want to be there I can only do so much since I have a family myself. She refuses to move to a nursing/retirement home, look for companionship, and seek professional help for tasks she needs done such as car maintenance, insurance inquiries, etc. (Cont’d)

I'm so thankful that EY has not made the Covid19 Vaccination a condition of employment and they allow work from home to remain an option. Such a great employer. To all who received the vaccine I'm happy you had that option. I will wait a few years until there is enough vaccine data before I put it in my body.
